The Darkside Experience is a tribute band dedicated to faithfully recreating the legendary sound and atmosphere of Pink Floyd. Formed in 2018, the group brings together seasoned musicians with a shared passion for authenticity, musical precision, and immersive live performance. With meticulous attention to detail, they capture the spirit of Pink Floyd’s most iconic albums—from The Dark Side of the Moon to The Wall—offering audiences a powerful, nostalgia-driven concert experience true to the original sound.


Repertoire / Setlists

The repertoire is ever evolving and somewhat negotiable with sufficient advanced notice. We focus on the classic Pink Floyd work as expected from wide range of studio work. We can taylor setlist to suit experience and venue preferences, and we are open to adding for special occaisions. While we stick to the vast Pink Floyd canon, we have been known to extend beyond Pink Floyd to other seminal work of the era. Let us know of special requests.

I've always said if someone plays Pink Floyd they are bound to be top notch because it's not the kind of music you can play and just be "ok" at. And you all consistently live up to those expectations as some of the best musicians I have ever had the opportunity to see play.

I have seen tribute bands in Vegas who are not nearly this good! A must see and experience! I could watch them every week!

My wife and I saw you on Friday at Bright Box in Winchester. Pink Floyd is on the top of my alltime favorite bands list. You guys killed it. I absolutely loved your performance. Every one of you are awesome musicians and together you are so cohesive. I closed my eyes and was back in the 1970s. I hope to see you all again.

The musicianship of these guys deliver a truly unique and true representation of Floyd. I was blown away by the choice of songs. My favorites were showcased. I’d see them every time they’re here.

This is an amazing show even if you aren't a big Pink Floyd fan. I didn't realize how much I liked Pink Floyd until after seeing The Darkside Experience for the first time. The immersive atmosphere of a dark theatre, the fog creeping overhead, the light show perfectly emphasizing the music, and such precise re-creations of Pink Floyd's songs is why this is one of my favorite shows at the Pulaski Theatre!

I can’t believe we just saw Pink Floyd for $20

I went to this last night.. had no idea what to expect but Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands of all time so I had to check it out. 🤷 I was really blown away. This band is incredibly talented! I can't say enough about how perfectly they covered some of the band's best hits! They put on a great show and I'll definitely be going again in November!

This is one of the best bands around especially if you are a Pink Floyd fan. These guys sound like the originals and that’s some tough music to play.

Our show is especially well-suited to sit-down theaters, dance-friendly spaces, dinner theater formats, and festival stages—any venue where atmosphere and sound matter. We like it dark, immersive, and intimate.

Venues that host The Darkside Experience regularly invite us back, citing both audience demand and performance quality. While availability may be limited and bookings require advance notice, The Darkside remains one of the most affordable and professional Pink Floyd tributes available in the region.

The Darkside Experience embraces the immersive audio-visual elements audiences expect from a Pink Floyd tribute. We have featured laser effects, high-end stage lighting, and emerging visual production technologies, all designed to evoke the iconic Floyd atmosphere — without requiring a five-figure production budget. We also incorporate surround sound elements to enhance the depth and spatial quality of the performance, delivering a powerful sensory experience that’s both affordable and unforgettable.

  • Estimate $3000 for 7-piece band including all backline instruments, and typically up to $1000 for sound and $1000 for lighting. We gladly work with venues to utilize intalled sound and lights and techs. We can carry M32C console and sound technician to easily connect to installed sound systems, and we work with local and regional lighting companies to provide the lighting pictured and scaled to venue size and budget.

The Darkside Experience is a meticulously crafted Pink Floyd tribute band based in Southwest Virginia, dedicated to faithfully recreating the sound, spirit, and immersive experience of one of rock’s most iconic acts. Formed in 2018, the group has quickly established itself as the region’s premier Pink Floyd tribute, known for stunning live shows that blend musical precision with visual atmosphere. The band performs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, typically within a 6-hour radius of Roanoke, VA, at theaters, clubs, and festivals—including recent headlining sets at the Hard Rock Café in Bristol, the Grandin Theatre, 5 Points Music Sanctuary, and the Millwald Theatre in Wytheville.

Covering the full arc of Floyd’s catalog, their repertoire includes complete performances of The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and Animals, as well as deep cuts from The Wall, Meddle, More, and early Syd Barrett-era material. Each show is performed with deep respect for the source material, combining authentic sound design, layered vocal textures, and immersive light elements to bring Pink Floyd’s timeless music to life.

The band draws from a lineup of seasoned professionals with over three decades of performance experience across genres—rock, jazz, theater, studio work, and beyond. Jonathan Barker, the band’s founder and lead vocalist/keyboardist, is a veteran of Electric Woodshed and current member of The Jive Exchange, known for his intricate recreation of Rick Wright’s sonic architecture. Guitarist Dan Dunlap brings decades of blues and theater experience and a keen ear for capturing the nuance and emotion of David Gilmour’s guitar work.

Willis Greenstreet, a multi-instrumentalist revered in the Roanoke scene, covers both guitar and saxophone duties, contributing versatile musicality to classic Floyd tracks. Jake Dempsey, a widely respected bassist and sound engineer, anchors the band with precision and depth, drawing from his work with Dead Reckoning, Lengthwise, and earlier Floyd tributes. Drummer Brett Reynolds, with roots in legendary rock acts including The Chesterfield Kings and collaborations with Mick Taylor, recreates Nick Mason’s progressive rock technique with meticulous authenticity.

The vocal depth of the band is enriched by Julie Gruver, whose soaring soprano draws from her classical training and musical theater background, and Melissa Mesko, a dynamic vocalist with a rich resume spanning Nashville, Mississippi, and the Mid-Atlantic.
